I’ve heard there are no grants available. Is this true?

I'm amazed at the number of people who have been told this, often by government officials. It is not true. Unfortunately government employees know little about what goes on outside of their own departments.

"OK, but am I eligible for a government grant?"

The government gives grants to individuals wanting to start or expand a business. Being eligible doesn't mean you will automatically receive money however. Those who learn the correct way to write a funding application before applying stand a much better chance of being successful.

My credit is not the best. Will I still qualify for government grant?

Perhaps. Credit checks are not performed on all applications. It depends on the program you are applying under and sometimes on how much money you are looking for. The government is supposed to have a higher risk tolerance that the charted banks so don't assume that because you don't have a stellar credit history you will be turned down.
